Jobster: What is General Growth Properties?

John: General Growth Properties is a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker symbol GGP. Including predecessor companies, GGP has been in the shopping center business for over fifty years. The second largest REIT, General Growth owns, develops, operates, and/or manages a diverse portfolio of over 200 shopping malls in 44 states, as well as international joint ventures in both Brazil and Turkey.

Jobster: How has Jobster made your recruiting experience more effective?

John: Jobster has made my recruiting efforts more effective in a sense that we’re now able to cast a much larger net and reach a lot more passive candidates. Additionally, through Jobster we are able to leverage technology and brand GGP as an employer of choice to a larger audience.

Jobster: What is one of your most frustrating recruiting experiences and how did Jobster help you?

John: It’s frustrating when I have a great candidate for GGP, that for one reason or another, isn’t a fit for that particular job or team. It’s comforting to have a tool that keeps us connected to those candidates who were a great fit for GGP, but not for that role. Jobster’s functionality makes it easy to message multiple candidates about opportunities as they arise.

Jobster: Tell me about an initiative that had a positive outcome using Jobster.

John: We have been able to manage the launch of our campus recruitment campaign through Jobster. Announcing our attendance at events and the RSVP function makes planning easy for us.
